Private beta - provisional information

During the private beta, only the information below applies. The rest of this page describes the service in its final version.

Publisher: Jean de Loynes, independent sole trader (natural person, Belgian law).
Access by invitation only. No open sign-up, and no sale or payment during the beta.
Data processed, limited to your application: email, first name, last name, company and country (optional), date of submission, language and, where applicable, your agreement to receive the newsletter.
Legal basis: for your application, steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR); for the newsletter, if you wish to receive it, your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Purpose: managing the private beta, namely selecting applicants and sending your access code.
Retention: until the end of the private beta, then deletion or anonymisation.
Your rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction, portability) and any question: privacy@erudiam.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
Cookies: only strictly necessary cookies are set, unless you accept audience measurement with Google Analytics (see the Cookie Policy). No VAT is due in the absence of any sale.

Provisional wording specific to the test phase, subject to change and intended to be reviewed by a lawyer before the public launch.

This English version is a translation provided for information only. The French version is the only authentic text and prevails in the event of any discrepancy.

This page explains how to request the deletion of your Erudiam account and the associated data. It is accessible without signing in, including if you no longer have access to the application.

The service is published by Erudiam. Full contact details are in the legal notice. The processing details are in the privacy policy.

1. Delete your account from the app

This is the fastest route, and it requires no action on our side.

On the website: open your Profile, then the Privacy and data section.

On the mobile app (Android and iOS): open your Profile, then Privacy and data.

Two routes are available:

Close your account, with 30 days to change your mind (see section 3);
Erase your account immediately: all your data is erased on the spot, with no cancellation period. For your security, this route requires you to have signed in within the last 24 hours and to confirm twice. If you have a paid subscription in progress, access ends immediately. If you are a consumer and the subscription has already been renewed, the remaining period is refunded to you pro rata within 14 days; in all other cases, no pro rata refund is made (Terms of Sale, Article 7.9).

To prevent accidental deletion, you are asked to type a confirmation word in your language (DELETE in English, SUPPRIMER in French) before confirming.

2. Delete your account if you can no longer sign in

Write to privacy@erudiam.com from the email address associated with the account, stating that you are requesting deletion of your account.

We reply within one month at the latest, as required by Article 12(3) GDPR. If we cannot match your request to an account with certainty, we will ask you for one additional piece of verification, and nothing more.

3. What happens next (closure with a 30-day period)

When	What happens
Immediately	Your profile is marked as deleted and no longer appears in the service. Your sessions are revoked on every device.
For 30 days	Deletion remains reversible. This grace period exists for deletions made in haste or by mistake.
After 30 days	Deletion becomes permanent and irreversible. The authentication account and the attached data are erased.

To cancel during those 30 days, write to privacy@erudiam.com from the account's email address.

If you choose immediate erasure, the "after 30 days" steps happen straight away: the authentication account and the attached data are erased as soon as you confirm, and it cannot be cancelled.

4. Data that is deleted

Erased together with the account:

your authentication account (email address, credentials);
your profile (display name, leaderboard alias, language, target competition, exam date, profile picture);
all of your learning data: answers to questions, spaced-repetition history and scheduling, practice sessions, mock exam results, statistics, streak, experience and level;
your social relationships within the service: friends, friend requests, leaderboard entries;
your push notification subscriptions and preferences.

5. Data retained after deletion, and why

Deleting an account does not instantly erase every trace, and claiming otherwise would be untrue. Here is what remains, for how long, and on what basis.

Technical logs (audit, security)	12 months maximum	Legitimate interest: fraud prevention and service security.
Accounting records related to a paid subscription	10 years	Belgian accounting and tax obligations (invoices are kept for 10 years, Article 60(4) of the Belgian VAT Code). These documents contain none of your learning data.
Proof of your consent to assessment by artificial intelligence (dates of consent and withdrawal, version, language), if you gave it	12 months after the account is deleted	To demonstrate the consent obtained (Article 7(1) GDPR). Neither your texts nor your results are kept.
In-app feedback you sent us, and attached screenshots	12 months after resolution, then deletion or anonymisation	Tracking and fixing reported issues.

6. Export your data before deleting

Deletion is irreversible after 30 days, and immediate erasure is irreversible as soon as you confirm it. If you want to keep a copy of your data, export it before starting the deletion: the same section of your profile offers a JSON export, machine-readable, as provided for by Article 20 GDPR.

7. Complaints

If you believe your request was not handled properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (APD / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, dataprotectionauthority.be.
